Corporate Accountability Causes Consumer Issues

If You Were Buying A New Computer Or Receiving A Previously-Owned Machine… You Need To Remove Windows

Untold; unsold computers with previous versions of Windows are discarded at landfills,–causing electronic waste to rise. However; helping to ditch Microsoft Windows is key to help reduce electronic waste.

Everyday, new computers being advertised with new versions of Windows has caused older machines to be end up on a huge pile of unsold items,–causing these machines to be wasted. With all of that price gouging that is illegal, and harmful effects of discarded PCs… these people who buy computers just only set them, and forget other things what you can do with these computers.

Why Remove Microsoft Windows?

Windows is NOT a free OS at all. This OS is more polluting than you thought. With all of that bloatware, these companies are trying to upsell you some services that are NOT worth using. For this instance; Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, ESPN+, and other streaming services. To me… Windows is a pointless OS what I don’t support using because, its expensive, bad for a processor, takes up too much RAM, linked to constant spying without actually knowing it, always targeted with malware, NOT easy to customize, and product keys are too expensive to purchase.

Long time ago; it used to be a light GUI what you can use on demand. With a deceptive discontinuation of MSDOS, that made gamers on these computers unhappy, causing DOS-based communities to go obsolete. Bring back the DOS community is key to bring back the old ways of gaming. However; Microsoft has ballooned up their OS as a way to stock up programs what users may/may not use. With all of that unused software; that waste disk resources, RAM resources, and processor resources.

To me, Microsoft has really screwed us up with these programs what we don’t want to use. What’s the purpose of writing our own programs? Writing our programs is key to save money and help bring back the days of coding our own software.

If MSDOS is still being developed with newer versions; that should’ve enabled DOS communities to play games, write programs, etc.

Unfortunately, when a previous version of Windows meets EOL, these copies of software are left in the dump, or wasted in mammoth servers that continue to run for years. That also caused our old computers to be end up being discarded, or improperly recycled. Untold; millions of computers are filling up landfills, and unsold products still fill warehouses.

To me, Microsoft Windows is nothing more than a broken pane, and a shattered lie.

Replace Windows With The Following Alternatives That Will Make A Difference For Our Computing World

If I ever buy a computer for a business; I don’t need to use Microsoft Windows, a computer what I bought don’t need a proprietary OS installed, don’t need to have proprietary software being upsold to me. If me want to have software for my computer; I can just code my own to save money, and that’s it! Never EVER spend a dollar on proprietary software again. You should ONLY buy proprietary software from trusted companies what you want to support, ask questions first.

If you want free OSs to save money there’s the following OSs what you will be enjoying:

FreeDOS

That’s right!! FreeDOS is an open-source OS that are designed for old and new computers. You can go back to DOS as a way to go back to coding, gaming, and run legacy software. You can also develop software for FreeDOS. If you prefer to code; this OS is suitable for you. However; this OS can be a power saver for your computer; and you don’t need to overpay for Windows. And speaking about Windows; you can use this OS as a replacement for Microsoft Windows.

You can use this OS to get your children at home; and turn their computers into educational machines, and get them back to coding. That’s the purpose of learning to use computers. Coding should be a priority.

If you have a school; you can replace Windows with FreeDOS. You can also speak to your school administrator about ditching Windows altogether.

Arcade operators can use FreeDOS to run custom code for their arcade machines. And unlike Windows; no need to run virtualization software. Pure DOS can be your best friend.

Banks can use this OS to run their normal business.

Restaurants can use this software to do normal business.

Ubuntu Linux

Ubuntu is a Linux distribution that includes a GUI, but better than Windows! This OS is ideal for coding, video production, and gaming. However; streaming via Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, ESPN+, and other streaming services are pointless. However; the purpose of this OS is to be be creative as you write your own software. You can still surf the web, do email, and other things what you do on Windows. Also; you can use Hoopla, or Kanopy as streaming alternatives via a public library.

It does have a terminal to perform text-based commands,–just like old computers.

You can have a customized install of this OS on your computer.

Like FreeDOS; you can save countless amount of dollars. For me; that saved me over $200.00; after I removed Windows from my computers.

Other Open-Source OSs To Explore

The Free Software Foundation has more information about choosing free alternatives to proprietary software. They might have a directory of open-source software to choose.

If You Were Buying A New Computer

Speak to a store associate about making a special order of a computer without Windows installed.

If you were building your own computer; skip motherboards that are designed to run Windows.

Always go for a PC with easy to upgrade parts.

Go back to coding.

If you bought a computer with Windows Installed; replace it with an open-source OS.

WARNING

If a computer belongs to a designated person, such as a sex offender/predator, Windows should be left intact. A system administrator has either disabled a boot menu or the BIOS has been locked down. If this is the case; check with a system administrator for more information.

Don’t Purchase An Apple Macintosh Computer As A Substitute

A Mac will NOT be an alternative. A PC with Linux or FreeDOS is the best when choosing your next computer.

How To Enforce A “No Microsoft Windows” Policy For Your Business

If you are a business owner with a democratized philosophy; or associated with democratic views over conservative views; follow these following steps:

  1. Draft your policies that will prohibit use of Microsoft Windows, but only allow FreeDOS, Linux, and other open-source OSs.
  2. Speak to your computer supplier about making a switch to free and open-source alternatives.
  3. Unsubscribe from Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, ESPN+, and other streaming services that can raise costs for your business.
  4. If you were publishing books that are DRM-Free; redistribute your works to public libraries and relicense your works (if needed).
  5. If working on open-source projects; migrate all of your works to new machines.
  6. State your company will no longer allow Windows on company computers,–unless ran via Virtualbox or other virtualization software only designated for running Microsoft Windows.
  7. Add Microsoft Windows to a “prohibited OSs” list what you are drafting.
  8. Publish your policies, and speak to your employees about transitioning to a different OS.
  9. Cancel all Microsoft Windows product licenses.

Cleanup After Removing Windows

Discard digital copies of Windows installer ISO files from your disks, and other media. However; if you have a designated computer that is used by certain people; such as sex offenders, you may need to keep a copy of Windows handy. If NOT; you can visit Microsoft’s website and buy a copy of Windows for a designated computer.

For other computers; repurpose your old computers as gaming machines, dedicated kiosks; educational machines, and other dedicated machines.

Retrain your staff (for business owners).

Don’t close your Microsoft account, keep it for other uses.

Speak to your computer manufacturer about an OEM virtual PC edition of Windows, that way; your policies can still be enforced.

Audit your computers that are restored.
