There are many things what you can do with old pickle jars, for this instance, you can use it for storing your change, paper clips, or even dollar bills via any denomination.

Use It To Sort Your Change

Got pennies,, dimes, and other coins (including dollar coins)?

If you do have these coins, you can use these jars to sort your coins. This is useful if you are saving up loose change for the fugure. Having a set of coins in your jars is like having a tangible savings in hand. Or if you are preparing your coins to be deposited to your bank account. It’s very important to save your coins and treat them as a tool to save up for topping up your bank account. Your parent can do it, your child can do it, your company can do it, and even your grandparents can do it!

If you are using these jars for the first time, follow these steps to ensure your jars are ready to store your coins:

  1. Wash Your Jars – This is important! You need to wash your jars in order to remove the smell of pickles. Give it a serious cleaning when you get your jar ready to store coins. You can use dish detergent to give it some serious washing.
  2. Dry Your Jar – Dry your jar with a dry cloth, and confirm the inside is completely dry, and NOT sticky to touch.
  3. Remove stickers/Labels – This is necessary to ensure your jar is easy to see if you saved enough money down the road. This is useful for keeping track of these coins what you’ve saved. That depends on a size of your jar. I recommend large jars because, you can store more coins than smaller jars.
  4. Optionally, Design Your Jars – Paint the inside of your jar, or the outside portion of your jar,–if you want to make it easier to set aside your coins, or you can use it to ensure your child saves lots of money.
  5. Fill Your Jar With Desired Coins – Pennies, Nickels, dimes, quarters, or dollar coins can be used. If you have a larger jar, use it for your pennies, dimes, and dollar coins. If your jars are the same size, you can make a difference of how much coins what you are saving up. If you can use dimes, you can save hundreds of dollars overtime. Ten dimes equals $1.00; and 100 dimes equals $10.00.

    • 10,000 pennies = $100.00
    • 50,000 nickels = $500
    • 10,000 dimes = $1000.00
    • 25,000 quarters = $2,500
    • 10,000 dollar coins = $10,000
  6. If your jar gets heavy, always have someone help you carry the load,–if taking trips to your local bank.

At minimum; get a wagon, and load these jars for ease of transport.

  7. Always take a trip to your local bank to have your coins counted as a way to top up your account(s). If you manage to save up for a specific goal, do it!
